After 8 days of dragging our sleds through clouds, a blizzard, whiteouts, and a hailstorm, the weather got the memo. We had a perfect day of clear blue skies, warmth, and sun before we left the mountains. ☀️

The call we made

We had planned to camp an extra day out on the plateau, but since a hailstorm (which then melted) soaked all our kit (a problem we won’t have in Antarctica as it won’t get that warm), we made the call to come back to town early to dry our jackets and sleeping bags (and check into the hotel for an extra night).

So we had one day of skiing without dragging our heavy sleds. And, in my case, did some snow bathing and made the requisite snow angel 🙂

Next stop: Oslo

We’re back in Oslo for 3 days of (much-needed!) ski technique training in an indoor ski centre to make our skiing more efficient (which we need for our 2,100km Polar Dogs Antarctica Expedition!!)

Every time I’ve been to Oslo it’s been FREEZING. Turns out it’s the coolest city when the weather is hot! 🇳🇴
