Icy water and bear fences

Sealed into an immersion dry suit, arms out, ready for the icy-water crossing drill on polar survival training

My getting out of icy water in massive dry suit with ice pick skills need some work.

Antarctica is nice and dry (mostly)

Most of the week so far has been on Antarctic survival and prep for our Polar Dogs Antarctica Expedition. Antarctica is nice and dry (mostly). And no bears. The Arctic has lots of water you have to cross, and polar bears.

Everything so far has made me more excited and confident about our Antarctica crossing – and more sure I’m happy I’m not going to the Arctic!!

Tonight a talk with the world’s polar bear behavioural expert and the impacts climate change is having on the bears.
